"Path of Prayer"
Production year: 2025
Size: 140 x 180 mm
Material: panel, chalk, watercolor
Curator's note
The moon and stars float quietly against a deep blue background reminiscent of the night sky.
As if guided by the light, a small path leads into the depths of the picture, at the end of which stands a church.
"Path of Prayer" is a painting of a church that the artist painted after visiting Naru Island in the Goto Islands.
The churches scattered across the island are places of prayer, but they also quietly hold the memories and time of the people.
The path that emerges in the silence of the night represents faith and everyday life, life and death, past and present.
It also looks like a path that connects various "in-between" spaces.
This painting depicts the time on the island where many prayers have piled up.
It is gently depicted as a single landscape.
