"Sky of the Shower" T-shirt
This T-shirt features the original painting "Sky of a Shower," which was based on the "scenery of a shower" that Kubo Akira encountered when he first visited Goto.
He visited the island in mid-August, a season when Goto often experiences sudden showers, and Kubo says he was deeply moved by the unique sight of rain falling while the setting sun shone through.
The work depicts a carefully drawn seaside scene shimmering in the sparkling rain, and upon closer inspection, you can even see small crabs and jellyfish.
To the locals, this is an everyday scene, but to the artist it appears like a portal to a new world, full of surprises and discoveries.
This T-shirt was created as the main visual for the solo exhibition "Town of Sea Breeze."
The design has a summery, transparent feel, as if the sparkle of Goto's air and water is imbued in the fabric.
