About Artist

Natsuko Nakamura

After visiting my grandmother's hometown of Nagasaki,
I have become increasingly interested in the history and culture of the hidden Christians who have taken root in Nagasaki.
I continue to create works that trace the strange fates of these people and act as a journey to discover my own roots.

To commemorate the opening of the Tetoba Museum, he was invited to Goto as the museum's first artist.
In fact, seven years ago I spent about three months in Tomie Town, Goto, and the memories of that time have had a profound influence on my current work.
Many of the works in the exhibition were created based on the time spent on Goto and the memories that remain on the island.
